YAK-52TW

The YAK-52TW is a specialized variant of the foundational Yakovlev Yak-52, modified to feature a tailwheel configuration for advanced aerobatic performance and training. As a two-seat aircraft, it maintains the spirited handling and sturdy construction characteristic of its Soviet-era lineage, but with performance enhancements suited for competitive flying and complex maneuvers.

Manufacturing of the original Yak-52 series was carried out by S C Aerostar S A, based in Bacău, Romania. Founded in 1953, the company is a foundational name in Romanian aerospace, specializing in aircraft production, maintenance, and modernization. Aerostar built a vast number of Yak-52s, making it the primary producer of the type. The subsequent development of models like the YAK-52TW reflects the company’s capability to evolve established designs for modern aviation demands.

A variety of maintenance platforms and access solutions—such as deck platforms, modular stepover platforms, trestle scaffold, and specialized maintenance platforms—are used for thorough servicing of this aircraft. These access methods are indispensable for detailed work on the airframe. The ability to reach key areas is vital, including the nose section for avionics and cockpit access, the main landing gear for rigorous inspection, and the wing area for fuel system maintenance. Detailed access is also critical for the Wing & Engine Pylon section, where components like the inlet/exhaust, engine body, and turbine require methodical attention. Similarly, the tail section, including the vertical and horizontal stabilisers, benefits from precise access for inspection and repair.
