TRANSALL C-160

The TRANSALL C-160 is a military transport aircraft developed through a joint venture between France and Germany. The name “Transall” is an abbreviation for the manufacturing consortium, Transporter Allianz, which historically included MBB, Aérospatiale, and VFW-Fokker. Development began in the late 1950s to meet the demand for a modern transport aircraft for both the French and German Air Forces. The C-160’s first flight was on February 25, 1963, and production occurred between 1965 and 1985, with 214 units built. While largely retired by its original operators, the C-160 remains in service with the Turkish Air Force.

Maintenance around the TRANSALL C-160 requires access to various critical areas, including the Nose Section (Radome, Windshield & Cockpit), Forward Fuselage (Cargo/Baggage, Cabin Access), Landing Gear (NLG + MLG), Middle Fuselage / Wing Box Area (Wing Box, Fuel Tanks), Wing & Engine Pylon (Engine, Hydraulics, Fuel Tanks/Pumps), AFT Fuselage (APU Compartments, Rear Avionics), and the Tail Section (Vertical Stabiliser, Rudder).

A range of platforms and access solutions are utilized for methodical maintenance across the aircraft. These specialized products—including Reach Deck Platform, Modular Stepover Platforms, Super Trestle Scaffold, Ultraraise, Super Service Stand, Easyraise, Bridge Deck, Cantilever Platform, Aviation Chock and Cone Trolley, Super Maintenance Platform, Branach Fibreglass Platform, A Frame Aviation Platform, and Platform Ladder Warthog—are available to support detailed inspection and service needs for all required sections.
