The SA226-T Merlin III is a turboprop-powered business aircraft, developed by Fairchild as an evolution of the Swearingen Merlin line. It served as a foundational design that was later stretched to create the SA226-TC Metro, a successful 22-passenger regional transport.
Fairchild, the manufacturer, was an American aircraft and aerospace company founded in 1925 by Sherman Fairchild. Throughout its history, the company was based in locations including New York and Texas, and produced a wide array of influential aircraft, from early models like the Fairchild 24 to military trainers like the PT-19.
