S-2A

The S-2A, a Pitts Special model built by Aerotek, is an iconic aerobatic biplane. The S-2A variant followed the original S-1 design and introduced a two-seat configuration. Aerotek was responsible for manufacturing this version, helping to cement the aircraft’s reputation for high performance in competition and air show circuits. The S-2A is powered by a Lycoming AEIO-360-B4A engine, delivering exceptional power and agility for demanding maneuvers.

The maintenance of the S-2A requires precise access to several key sections. For the nose section, detailed attention is needed for the radome, antenna, and nose avionics, along with the windshield and cockpit area. Servicing the engine components in the wing and engine pylon area—including the fan, compressor, turbine, and fuel systems—is often necessary. Access platforms are indispensable for reaching these areas, as well as for work around the main landing gear.

Additional maintenance needs include the forward fuselage, where access to doors, lighting systems, and cabin is crucial.
