PIAGGIO FW P 149D

The PIAGGIO FW P 149D is a utility and liaison monoplane, an all-metal, low-wing design developed by Piaggio in Italy. The aircraft, which features retractable tricycle landing gear and seating for four or five, first flew as the Piaggio P.149 prototype on June 19, 1953. It was selected by the German Air Force for training and utility roles.

FOCKE – WULF, a German manufacturer with a deep history in aviation, built the FWP.149D variant under license. Piaggio delivered 76 of the initial 88 Italian-built aircraft to Germany, while Focke-Wulf produced a significant additional number of 190 units in Germany. This manufacturing arrangement made the FWP.149D a crucial post-war training platform.
