PA-22-160

The PA-22-160 is a versatile utility aircraft produced by PIPER Aircraft, a foundational name in American aviation history. PIPER’s lineage began in the late 1920s, evolving into a major manufacturer of light aircraft like the iconic J-3 Cub, and later, the PA-20 Pacer.

The PA-22 series, known as the Tri-Pacer, evolved from the PA-20 Pacer, which itself came from the PA-15 Vagabond first flown in 1947. Introduced in 1952, the PA-22-160 variant is recognized for its tricycle landing gear and a more powerful 160 horsepower Lycoming O-320 engine. It was certified as a four-place aircraft in the normal category and a two-place aircraft in the utility category. The PA-22-160, along with its Tri-Pacer siblings, served as a popular choice for private owners and trainers for decades, demonstrating PIPER’s commitment to producing accessible and reliable general aviation aircraft.
