P51 D-30 NA

The P-51 D-30 NA is a variant of the legendary P-51 Mustang fighter aircraft. Many consider the Mustang the best American fighter of World War II, especially after the original Allison engine was switched to the Rolls-Royce Merlin engine, significantly improving its performance. This single-engine aircraft was deployed for close-support, escort missions, and tactical photoreconnaissance. Key performance specifications for the P-51D include a maximum speed of 437 mph and a service ceiling of 41,900 ft, powered by a 1,695hp V-12 Packard Merlin V1650-7 liquid-cooled engine, and armed with six 0.50-caliber machine guns.

NORTH American Aviation (NAA) was established in 1928 as a holding company, but the Air Mail Act of 1934 forced it to transition into a manufacturing company. Early products included trainer and observation planes. The P-51 was one of NAA’s most significant contributions during WWII. Post-war, NAA’s orders sharply dropped, and General Motors divested the company in 1948. Through a series of mergers and sales, NAA eventually became part of Boeing.

Specialized access solutions are necessary for maintaining and inspecting critical aircraft sections. The range of platforms and stands available supports detailed maintenance tasks across the airframe. These solutions facilitate maintenance access to the Wing & Engine Pylon for the V-12 engine, the Landing Gear, and general access points. Platforms also assist with work on the Nose Section (Windshield & Cockpit, Bulkhead) and the Tail Section (Vertical Stabiliser, Horizontal Stabiliser, Rudder).
