P-40E-1-CU

The P-40E-1-CU is a distinguished variant of the Curtiss P-40 fighter aircraft, an iconic single-seat plane of the Second World War. Powered by an Allison V-1710 in-line liquid-cooled engine, the P-40 series became famous for its vital role across numerous Allied air forces, particularly noted for its hard-wearing design and effectiveness at low-to-medium altitudes.

The aircraft was manufactured by Curtiss Wright, a foundational company in American aviation history. Established through the merger of the Curtiss Aeroplane and Motor Company and the Wright Aeronautical Corporation in 1929, Curtiss Wright was a powerhouse during the war era, responsible for designing and mass-producing critical military aircraft like the P-40 Warhawk/Kittyhawk, and the C-46 Commando. The P-40 series alone saw extensive production, remaining in service until well after the conflict concluded.

Maintaining this classic aircraft demands precise access. Platforms and access solutions are utilized to support thorough inspection and servicing across all key sections. For the Nose Section, including the radome, antenna, nose avionics, windshield & cockpit, and bulkhead, access is provided by products such as the Reach Deck Platform and Platform Ladder Warthog. The Super Trestle Scaffold, Ultraraise, and Easyraise are vital for general access across the forward fuselage, landing gear, and wing areas, facilitating work on the engine, fuel tanks, and control surfaces. These solutions ensure workers can safely and methodically service the aircraft from nose to tail section, addressing maintenance needs for the vertical and horizontal stabilisers, and the rudder.
