MQ-5B Hunter

The MQ-5B Hunter is a multi-mission uncrewed aerial vehicle (UAV) primarily utilized for reconnaissance, surveillance, and target acquisition. Developed from the original RQ-5 Hunter, the MQ-5B variant is known for its extended endurance (up to 18 hours) and capability to carry light weapons, such as the Viper Strike munition. It entered service with the U.S. Army in the mid-1990s as the RQ-5A, achieving significant operational success, notably during the conflict in Kosovo, which prompted continued production and modernization. The MQ-5B represents a critical evolution of this medium-altitude, long-endurance platform.

Israel Aircraft Industries (IAI), now known as Israel Aerospace Industries, is the foundational manufacturer of the Hunter system. Established in 1953, IAI is Israel’s premier aerospace and aviation company, initially focused on maintaining and overhauling military aircraft. IAI grew to become a global leader in developing and manufacturing advanced military and commercial systems, including missiles, satellite systems, and a range of pioneering uncrewed aircraft like the Hunter.

Maintaining the MQ-5B Hunter requires versatile platforms and access solutions for detailed, methodical upkeep of critical systems. Reach Deck Platform, Modular Stepover Platforms, Super Trestle Scaffold, and Cantilever Platform facilitate access to the aircraft’s high points and sensitive areas. These include the Nose Section for radome and avionics, the Wing and Engine Pylon for the dual Mercedes HFE diesel engines, and the Tail Section for stabilizers and other components. Various mobile stands and platforms are also available to support general access tasks across the fuselage.
