KC-46A Pegasus

The KC-46A Pegasus is a multi-mission aerial refueler and transport aircraft manufactured by Boeing Defense, Space & Security. Selected by the United States Air Force (USAF) in 2011 to replace older KC-135 Stratotankers, the Pegasus is a derivative of the commercial Boeing 767. Its first flight was in 2015, with initial delivery to the USAF occurring in January 2019. It provides advanced capability advantages through boom and drogue defueling on the same sortie, worldwide navigation, and substantial cargo capacity. As of April 2025, 98 units have been built for the USAF and other global operators, with plans for additional production extending its service life.

Boeing, the foundational manufacturer, traces its origins back to 1916 when William E. Boeing established the Pacific Aero Products Co. The company rapidly grew to become a paramount global aerospace firm, known for both commercial airliners and defense systems. Through decades of innovation, including the development of iconic aircraft, Boeing has maintained a position as a foundational provider of essential defense and commercial air platforms. The manufacturing of aircraft like the KC-46A continues this legacy, supporting military and allied operations worldwide.

A diverse range of access solutions support the thorough maintenance of the KC-46A. Platforms and stands allow for detailed access to critical areas. For instance, cantilever platforms and modular stepover platforms provide necessary reach to the Wing & Engine Pylon sections for work on the fan, turbine, and engine body, or access to the AFT Fuselage for APU compartments. Stands and scaffolds enable maintenance on the Nose Section (Windshield & Cockpit, Radome) and the Tail Section (Vertical Stabiliser, Horizontal Stabiliser). Specialized trolleys support management of chocks and cones, while the aviation platforms offer varied height solutions for the Landing Gear and Middle Fuselage access points, including the wing box and fuel systems.
