J3F-65

The J3F-65 Cub is a celebrated light aircraft, part of the iconic Piper J-3 Cub family. This high-wing, tandem two-seat monoplane is powered by a 65 hp engine, distinguishing it as a key variant in the Cub lineage. Known for its simplicity and gentle flying characteristics, the Cub became foundational for flight training and general aviation, with production lasting from 1938 to 1947. Its simplicity, affordability, and popularity draw comparisons to the Ford Model T.

The J-3 Cub’s history is tied to the evolution of its manufacturer, Piper Aircraft. The lineage began with the 1930 Taylor E-2 Cub. After William Piper acquired the company, development accelerated, leading to the J-2 and finally the J-3, which first flew in 1937. Piper Aircraft produced over 20,000 Cubs in the United States, including military variants known as the L-4 Grasshopper, before the company established itself as a major force in general aviation.
