The GA8 TC-320 Airvan, manufactured by Gippsaero of Australia, is an eight-seat utility transport aircraft designed for challenging conditions. It is known for operating in remote areas and from austere air strips, supporting tasks like passenger transport, freight, sightseeing, and surveillance. Power is provided by a 239 kW (320 hp) Lycoming TIO-540-AH1A six-cylinder turbocharged engine.
Gippsland Aeronautics, later Gippsaero, began in 1977 at Latrobe Regional Airport. The company initially focused on modifying agricultural aircraft to improve capability and safety, leading to its aircraft design and manufacturing business. Early aircraft included the GA200 Fatman and the GA8 Airvan, which first flew in 1995. In December 2009, Mahindra Aerospace Pvt. Ltd. acquired a majority stake in the company.
Access solutions, including the Reach Deck Platform, Modular Stepover Platforms, Super Trestle Scaffold, and Ultraraise, are essential for comprehensive maintenance on the GA8 TC-320. These platforms provide secure access for detailed work on the Nose Section (Windshield & Cockpit, Avionics) and the Forward Fuselage (Main Entry Door, Cargo/Baggage, Cabin Access).
For the Landing Gear (Nose and Main Landing Gear) and Middle Fuselage (Wing Box, Fuel Tanks), Super Service Stands and Cantilever Platforms offer paramount reach. For the Wing & Engine Pylon section, access solutions are indispensable for maintaining the Engine (Inlet/Exhaust, Fan, Compressor, Turbine), Pylon, and Hydraulics.
The AFT Fuselage and Tail Section (Vertical Stabiliser, Horizontal Stabiliser, Rudder) require reliable elevated access, often supported by systems like the Bridge Deck or A Frame Aviation Platform. Platform ladders and Aviation Chocks and Cone Trolleys provide foundational support for general access and securing the aircraft during maintenance.
