F-5N Tiger II

The F-5N Tiger II is a modernized version of the F-5E Tiger II, a supersonic light fighter initially developed by Northrop. The F-5 series is known for its maneuverability and low operating costs, making it a globally successful export aircraft. Today, the F-5N variants serve a critical role as adversary aircraft for training U.S. Navy and Marine Corps pilots.

The manufacturing history of the F-5 traces back to the early 1950s under Northrop Corporation. Northrop was officially founded in 1939 by John K. Northrop, focusing on innovative aircraft designs, including the influential Flying Wing. The F-5 family emerged from a private venture in the 1950s, leading to the highly successful F-5 Freedom Fighter and F-5 Tiger II variants. Northrop later merged with Grumman in 1994 to form Northrop Grumman, a foundational global defense and aerospace entity.

Specialized maintenance access equipment, such as modular stepover platforms and cantilever platforms, is critical for supporting this aircraft. These solutions provide safe, efficient access for inspecting the nose avionics, maintaining engine components—including the inlet/exhaust, fan, and turbine—and servicing the tail section, which includes the vertical and horizontal stabilizers. Access platforms are indispensable for detailed work across the fuselage and wing areas, ensuring the operational readiness of these high-performance aircraft.
