EGC-8 SPECIAL

The WACO EGC-8 SPECIAL, part of the Classic Cabin Series biplanes, is an aircraft revered for its high wing loading and powerful engine, making it a distinctive golden-era touring machine. WACO Aircraft Company (Waco, Ohio) was one of the largest aircraft manufacturers of the 1920s and 1930s. The company, originally founded in 1920, became known for its quality biplanes. While initial production ceased in 1947, the name and legacy of the type have been carried forward by modern manufacturers who build new, certified WACO aircraft.

A range of platforms and access solutions are utilized to support this aircraft, ensuring thorough maintenance across all areas. Elevated work stands, such as the Reach Deck Platform and Cantilever Platform, are essential for accessing the upper surfaces of the biplane wings and the engine bay, including the engine’s inlet/exhaust and undercowl areas. Modular Stepover Platforms and Bridge Decks provide necessary horizontal access over obstructions for the Wing Box and Middle Fuselage areas, where fuel tanks and oil maintenance points are located.

For detailed inspections and work on smaller sections like the Nose Avionics and Landing Gear (NLG/MLG), equipment like the Super Service Stand and A Frame Aviation Platform offer stable, precise positioning. Access to the Tail Section (Empennage), including the Vertical and Horizontal Stabilisers, is facilitated by these mobile platforms. The structural design of the maintenance tools ensures workers can perform detailed, methodical inspections throughout the entire airframe.
