The DHC-8-315 is a twin-engine, turboprop regional airliner, part of the de Havilland Canada Dash 8 family. This series is recognized for its short take-off and landing (STOL) performance and is widely used for regional travel globally. The DHC-8-315 variant, which entered service in 1995, is typically configured for 37-39 passengers and is powered by two PW123E engines. The Dash 8 program began under de Havilland Canada (DHC) in the early 1980s.
Bombardier, the aircraft’s manufacturer, acquired DHC in 1992, absorbing the Dash 8 program and continuing production of the successful regional aircraft line. Bombardier is a Canadian multinational corporation founded in 1942, evolving from a recreational vehicle manufacturer to a global leader in business jets and, historically, in commercial aviation. While Bombardier later divested its commercial aircraft programs, the DHC-8 legacy continued under its stewardship for many years.
Maintaining the DHC-8-315 requires specialized height access solutions. Platforms and stands are foundational for detailed inspection and service across all critical areas. For the Nose Section—covering the radome, antenna, nose avionics, windshield, cockpit, and bulkhead—various platforms provide stable working surfaces. Access equipment supports work on the Forward Fuselage sections, including the main entry door, cargo areas, and environmental control system access. The modular platforms and stands facilitate methodical maintenance around the Landing Gear (NLG and MLG), the Middle Fuselage/Wing Box Area (including wing box, fuel tanks, and oil maintenance), and the complex Wing & Engine Pylon sections. Elevated solutions also ensure thorough access for all components in the AFT Fuselage and Tail Section (Empennage), from the APU compartments to the vertical and horizontal stabilizers.
