The DHC-6 Series 200 is a versatile, unpressurized Short Take-off and Landing (STOL) utility aircraft, commonly known as the Twin Otter. Manufactured by DE Havilland, this high-wing, twin-engine turboprop is globally recognized for its rugged construction and ability to operate from challenging, unprepared runways and water (when equipped with floats). The Series 200 introduced improvements over the original Series 100, including a longer nose for increased baggage capacity.
DE Havilland, officially known as de Havilland Canada (DHC), was founded in 1928 to build de Havilland aircraft for the Canadian market. The company developed a reputation for designing sturdy aircraft tailored for the harsh Canadian environment and demanding utility roles. The Twin Otter, which first flew in 1965, quickly became a foundational success for DHC, cementing its legacy in utility aviation. Production eventually shifted to other entities, but the aircraft remains in production today due to its enduring design.
A range of platforms and access solutions support detailed maintenance across this aircraft. Specialized stands ensure access to the Nose Section (including the Windshield & Cockpit and Bulkhead) and Landing Gear (NLG + MLG). Elevated platforms are necessary for methodical inspection of the Middle Fuselage / Wing Box Area, as well as the Wing & Engine Pylon components, addressing access needs for the Engine Body, Fan, and Turbine. Furthermore, various access equipment supports work on the Tail Section (Empennage), including the Vertical Stabiliser and Horizontal Stabiliser.
