The DHC-1 Chipmunk Mk 22 is a foundational British primary trainer aircraft. Designed by Wsiewołod Jakimiuk and built by De Havilland Canada (DHC), the Chipmunk first flew in 1946. It became the Royal Air Force’s standard basic trainer, replacing the venerable Tiger Moth. The Mk 22 variant specifically represents a civil conversion of the military T.10 model, designed to maximize the aircraft’s continued utility after its military service concluded.
De Havilland (DH) was a leading British aircraft company established in 1920 by Geoffrey de Havilland. The manufacturer earned a reputation for innovative designs, including iconic military aircraft and commercial airliners. DHC, founded in 1928, became essential to the parent company’s efforts, especially in developing aircraft suited for rugged environments like Canada. The Chipmunk solidified DHC’s position before they produced other legendary short take-off and landing (STOL) aircraft.
Access solutions, such as Reach Deck Platform, Modular Stepover Platforms, Super Trestle Scaffold, and Super Service Stand, are instrumental for detailed maintenance across the DHC-1. These systems allow personnel to safely and efficiently reach critical areas, including the Nose Section (Windshield & Cockpit, Bulkhead), the Wing & Engine Pylon (Engine, Undercowl), and the Tail Section (Vertical Stabiliser, Horizontal Stabiliser, Rudder).
