DH60M3

The DH60M3, a variant of the foundational de Havilland DH.60 Moth series, is a two-seat biplane renowned as one of the world’s first truly successful light aircraft for training and private ownership. The DH.60 Moth, first flown by Geoffrey de Havilland in February 1925, was developed from the larger DH.51 biplane. The DH60M3 would have followed the initial production models like the Cirrus Moth and Gipsy Moth, benefiting from the series’ enduring design—wooden construction with a plywood-covered fuselage and fabric-covered wings that could be folded alongside the fuselage.

The manufacturer, de Havilland, established its reputation by pioneering lightweight, efficient aircraft design. The company was responsible for a lineage of iconic aircraft that played foundational roles in aviation history. This included the DH.60 Moth series and later, legendary models like the DH.82 Tiger Moth trainer. The DH.60 laid the groundwork for de Havilland’s success, becoming an indispensable part of global air forces and private flying clubs, with total DH.60 production reaching over 1,500 units.

Various access and platform solutions are necessary for maintaining this type of aircraft, supporting technicians working on all major sections. Platforms with adjustable height are ideal for reaching the wing and engine pylon area for essential maintenance, including work on the engine body or fuel tanks. Similarly, platforms and access solutions are needed for thorough maintenance of the tail section, particularly the vertical and horizontal stabilizers. Sturdy stepover platforms can facilitate access over the fuselage, ensuring the main landing gear and forward fuselage sections are readily serviceable.
