CTLS

The CTLS is a Light Sport version of the Flight Design CT series, announced in 2008. It features improvements over its predecessor, the CTSW, including a revised fuel system with standard-type fuel caps and better venting, upgraded landing gear, and a revised tailplane, alongside other aerodynamic refinements. This aircraft remains in production and is known for its high-performance characteristics as a light-sport machine.

Flight Design, the German company that manufactures the CTLS, was founded in 1988 by Matthias Betsch. Since its inception, the company has focused on developing light aviation platforms, achieving its first German Airworthiness Certificate in 1997. The CT series received its Special Light Sport Aircraft FAA Airworthiness Certificate in April 2005, marking its success in the US market.

A range of platforms and access solutions support detailed maintenance across the CTLS. These include Reach Deck Platforms, Modular Stepover Platforms, Super Trestle Scaffold, and Ultraraise. These systems ensure safe access to critical sections such as the Nose Section (Radome, Antenna, Nose Avionics, Windshield & Cockpit, Bulkhead), and the Forward Fuselage (Main Entry Door, Cargo/Baggage, Cabin Access). They also facilitate work on the Landing Gear, Middle Fuselage, Wing & Engine Pylon, AFT Fuselage, and Tail Section.
