Aircraft Manufacturing And Development (AMD) began producing this type-certified aircraft after its design, based on the Zenith CH640 kit aircraft, received FAA approval in July 1995. AMD has offered variants like the general aviation AMD Alarus CH2000 and the SAMA CH2000 Military Tactical Surveillance Aircraft. The company has since changed ownership.
