Cessna Skylane

The Cessna Skylane, or Cessna 182, is a paramount four-seat, single-engine light aircraft, celebrated for its performance, payload capacity, and reliable utility in general aviation. Since its introduction in 1956 as a tricycle gear variant of the Cessna 180, the Skylane has undergone numerous refinements, including the notable addition of retractable landing gear in the R182 and TR182 models. The aircraft’s high wing design offers excellent visibility and stability, solidifying its place as one of the most successful private aircraft ever manufactured.

Cessna, the manufacturer, is a foundational name in American aerospace. Founded in 1927 by Clyde Cessna, the company established a legacy of producing simple, sturdy, and popular aircraft. The 100-series, which includes the Skylane, became the backbone of their production. After several ownership changes, including its acquisition by General Dynamics in 1985 and a subsequent closure of single-engine piston aircraft production, Textron acquired the company. Manufacturing of the Skylane resumed in 1996, and it remains a key product line today.

A variety of access platforms and solutions are utilized for thorough maintenance and servicing of the Skylane across its key sections. Elevated access supports detailed work on the Nose Section (including the radome, antenna, nose avionics, windshield, cockpit, and bulkhead) and the Forward Fuselage (including cabin access and lighting systems). For the Main Landing Gear and Wing Box Area, specialized stands and platforms provide access for maintenance. These solutions also facilitate servicing of the AFT Fuselage and Tail Section (Empennage), ensuring comprehensive maintenance across the entire airframe.
