The BAC 167 Strikemaster is a versatile light attack aircraft and jet trainer, developed by the British Aircraft Corporation (BAC). Its origins trace back to the BAC Jet Provost, a highly successful trainer, which was modified in 1967 to incorporate enhanced capabilities for weapons training and counter-insurgency roles. The Strikemaster saw continuous manufacturing between 1967 and 1983, with 146 units built, and served numerous international air forces before its retirement from most primary users around 1993.
British Aircraft Corporation (BAC) was a foundational British aerospace company formed in 1960 through the merger of aircraft interests from English Electric, Vickers-Armstrongs, Bristol Aeroplane Company, and Hunting Aircraft. BAC was a leading manufacturer of military and civil aircraft, including notable projects like the TSR-2, Concorde, and the One-Eleven airliner, before it became a part of British Aerospace (now BAE Systems) in 1977.
Maintenance access for the Strikemaster requires diverse platform solutions. For the Wing & Engine Pylon section, which includes the fan, compressor, and turbine, a Super Service Stand or Super Maintenance Platform provides first-class height access. A Cantilever Platform is ideal for reaching the engine inlet/exhaust and underearriage. For lower access and routine checks of the Landing Gear (Nose Landing Gear and Main Landing Gear), the Platform Ladder Warthog and Modular Stepover Platforms are efficient options. The Bridge Deck offers access across the Middle Fuselage and wing box area. For accessing the Tail Section (Empennage), including the vertical and horizontal stabilizers, an Ultraraise or Reach Deck Platform ensures necessary reach. Access equipment, such as Aviation Chock and Cone Trolley, are indispensable for general operations.
