The 8KCAB, widely known as the Decathlon, is an aircraft celebrated for its aerobatic capabilities. Its lineage traces back through the Citabria line to the Aeronca Champ, designed for more powerful and rigorous performance. The aircraft first entered production in 1970 under the Bellanca Aircraft Company.

Following a downturn in general aviation, the manufacturing rights for the design were acquired in 1989 by American Champion Aircraft Corporation. This new company continued to produce and support the aircraft, which remains in active service today. American Champion Aircraft maintains the legacy of this tandem-seating, center-stick control aircraft.

Platforms and access stands are used for thorough checks of critical areas, including the Nose Section (radome, avionics), Forward Fuselage (cabin access, control systems), and the Main Landing Gear.
