Vickers - Armstrong

Vickers-Armstrongs Limited was a major British defense, engineering, and aerospace conglomerate formed in 1927 through the merger of Vickers Limited and Armstrong Whitworth. The company specialized in armaments, shipbuilding, military vehicles, and aviation.

Historical products include the famous Vickers Wellington, a highly successful twin-engined long-range medium bomber of WWII, and the Vickers machine gun. They also produced other notable military and civilian aircraft, such as the BAC One-Eleven short-haul jet, and were involved in marine diesel engines for submarines.

Vickers-Armstrongs was largely nationalized in the 1960s and 1970s, with the remaining interests divested as Vickers plc in 1977. The original entity is now defunct and, therefore, has no well-known current products under that name, though its successors became parts of companies like BAE Systems and Rolls-Royce.
