SIAI Marchetti

SIAI Marchetti was an Italian aircraft manufacturer. Originally named Savoia, it became Savoia-Marchetti when chief designer Alessandro Marchetti joined in 1922. The company gained fame historically for its flying boats and seaplanes, notably the successful S. 55, which set numerous endurance and speed records.

The company is widely known for its post-WWII designs, including the SF.260, a popular high-performance military trainer and aerobatic aircraft. It also produced the S-211 jet trainer. SIAI Marchetti was eventually acquired by Aermacchi (now part of Leonardo S.p.A.). While the brand name is largely historical, its legacy products like the SF.260 remain in service worldwide. There are no well-known current products being actively manufactured under the SIAI Marchetti name, but the designs continue through its successor companies.
