On April 7, 2017, Bombardier Business Aircraft opened a new aircraft service centre in Tianjin, China.
With certification for Global, Challenger 604, Challenger 605 and Challenger 850 business jets, the facility, located near Beijing, offers MRO and related activities and services.
Tianjin airport, with a 17 percent increase in aircraft movement from the previous year, serves as a micro-case that represents the bigger picture in the aviation space in China – according to the International Air Transport Association, China will surpass the US aviation market for size by 2024. In 2016, some 487 million people flew to from and within China. By 2025, it is estimated that this figure will blow out to 927 million in that year.
To match this growth, Bombardier has had the largest fleet of business aircraft in China for the last twelve years, and it continues to assert itself as one of the leaders in business jet manufacture. The expansion also promises to provide opportunities for other businesses who support Bombardier in the MRO and GSE space, including suppliers of aircraft stands, aircraft maintenance equipment and hangar equipment.
